When the boys returned, Ralph called another assembly. He said we were indeed on an island. Ralph also made a rule about speaking in the
assembly. He said only the person
holding the conch could speak. Then a
little boy with something pink on his face said he saw a beastie, but the boys
laughed and told him it was a dream.
Ralph suggested we build a big fire so a passing boat could
rescue us. We raced to the top of the
mountain and made a big pile of wood.
Then we lit it using Piggy’s glasses.
Jack put the choir in charge of keeping the fire going. Later, Piggy started his fussing, but then he
began to laugh. He pointed at the side
of the mountain, which was now in flames.
We watched the fire then went back to the beach.
