My name is Eric, and I am stranded on a deserted island. Some other boys, including my twin brother Sam, and I were being evacuated from England when our airplane crashed. We swam to this island and are trying to survive. There are no adults.

Post 11

We have been rescued.

This morning, we set off on the hunt.  Sam led Jack and Roger to the thicket where Ralph was hiding.  They laughed and walked to the top of Tower Rock.  They found a huge boulder and pushed it over the edge of the cliff.  It landed right in the middle of Ralph’s hiding spot.  We ran back down to the edge of the thicket and crowded around it as tightly as we could.  Suddenly, a spear shot out of the thicket, stabbed Bill in the arm, and went back in.  Not concerned with Bill’s injury, Jack commanded us to walk back to the camp.  He found a large stick, stuck it in the fire, and carried it to where Ralph was hiding.  Laughing, he stuck the burning branch into thicket, lighting it on fire.  A couple of minutes later, we heard a shout from the other side of the thicket.  We ran over and found Johnny hunched over with a spear wound in his gut.  Roger turned and glimpsed a boy running and began chasing him.  We spread out and began chasing Ralph.  We ran as hard as we could for about ten minutes until we saw the beach ahead.  We burst through the brush onto the white sand and saw Ralph lying on the shore.  Above him was a man in a military outfit.  Ralph stood up and began talking to him.  More men came off the lifeboat that was sitting on the shore and came to inspect us.  They put us on life boats and rowed us to their cruiser.  We were finally saved.

We are about to hunt Ralph.  After Jack forced us to join his tribe, we ate dinner and danced the war dance.  They put Sam and me in charge of keeping a lookout through the night.  After about an hour on duty, Sam and I heard someone call our names.  Ralph climbed onto the side of the cliff from out of nowhere and began talking to us.  Sam and I told Ralph that he would be hunted tomorrow and warned him of Roger’s stick sharpened at both ends.  He told us he was going to hide in the thicket at the bottom of the cliff.  Roger was coming to check on us, so Ralph left.  Roger must have heard us talking to Ralph because when he arrived he was angry and asked who we were talking to.  We insisted we were talking to ourselves, but Roger began yelling and hitting us with his spear.  He turned the sharpened end at Sam and threatened to stab him if he did not tell him who we were talking to.  Sam caved.  He told him where Ralph was hiding and even offered to take him there.  Roger left, taking Sam with him.

Post 9

This morning, we got up and decided to confront Jack, an idea I did not wholeheartedly approve of.  We left later that morning armed with spears.  We could see their smoke as we approached the camp.  Roger, perched on a high rock, announced our arrival.  As the unrecognizable, painted savages arrive, Ralph began to blow the conch; he declared he was calling an assembly.  Jack appeared from behind us, and he and Ralph began to talk and argue.  Then, they starting fighting; they threw spears and attempted to stab each other.  Jack told his savages to grab Sam and me, and they proceeded to tie us up.  Then, that evil Roger pushed a giant rock toward us, knocking Piggy off the cliff and crushing the shell.  Shocked, Ralph turned and ran, an action Jack took as a sign of victory.  He then turned to Sam and me.  He began poking us in the ribs and commanding us to join his tribe.  We reluctantly agreed.

Post 8

Last night was terrible.  Yesterday afternoon, Jack and some others came and told us they killed a pig and invited us to eat it.  Bill, Sam, and I decided to go.  With a cunning smile, Jack handed us some meat.  It was the first meat I had since the one I helped kill.  Piggy and Ralph eventually showed up.  Then Jack stood up and asked who wanted to join his tribe, and Bill and some littluns decided to go with him.  The boys then started to do their war dance.  They danced and whooped, and Roger pretended to be the pig while the boys circled and pretended to kill him.  What happened next was just a blur.  A figure we thought was the beast crawled out of the forest.  The circle opened, and the figure walked into the center of the circle.  We thought it was the beast and began to attack it. We killed it.  Only after it was dead did we realize it was Simon.

When Sam and I met Piggy and Ralph, none of us admitted that we were even at the dance.
We relit the fire and struggled to keep it going.  With only three of us working, I got tired very quickly.  I started to wonder if all this work for the fire could really save us.   Sam and I argued with Ralph about keeping the fire burning, and he decided to abandon it for the night.  When we all lay down to sleep, Sam began whispering in my ear.  He began talking about joining Jack, an idea I opposed.  We began arguing and then starting fighting.  Piggy and Jack heard us and told us to stop.  Next thing I knew there was a person kicking me in the face.  I got up and punched him.  We fought for about a minute, and I got him pretty good before he left.  Sam and I ran over to Piggy and Ralph.  They were fine, but Jack had stolen Piggy’s glasses.

Post 7

Boys have been sneaking off to join Jack all day.  Now there is only Sam, Piggy, Ralph, Bill, some littluns, and me.  Simon has even gone off somewhere.  Ralph is trying to figure out how to keep the fire going for our rescue.  I am beginning to worry.

Post 6

Sam and I were on fire duty last night.  We kept putting wood on the fire.  After a few hours, however that tall mountain started getting cold and we were getting sleepy.  We must have dozed off because the next thing I knew, it was almost morning.  I woke up Sam, and we saw that the fire was almost out.  We managed to ignite the smoldering ash and got the fire burning again.  As we were celebrating our solution, I noticed something on the other side of a rock.  I poked Eric and looked closer.  The beast was on the other side of the rock.

We ran down the mountain and woke Jack.  We told him what we saw, and he called an assembly.  They decided to hunt the beast.  We climbed back up the mountain as a large group.  When we were almost to where we saw the beast, we stayed behind while Jack, Ralph, and Roger went to see the beast.  They saw it too.  We ran back in a panic and had another assembly, except this one was called by Jack.  Ralph and Jack began to argue.  Then Jack announced he was breaking off and forming his own tribe.

Post 5

Today Ralph called another assembly.  Ralph starting making rules like he was the king, which caused lots of argument.  Then another little boy said he saw the beast come out of the sea.  We started laughing, but Simon stood up and defended the boy. He said some garbage about the beast being us, which made someone start talking about ghosts.  Then Jack stood up, said “Bollocks to the rules!” and ran off whooping.  We followed him and danced and whooped until we were tired.

Post 4

By my count, we have been on this island for twenty days.  We are finally starting to adjust to our new life.  Today, Jack took us hunting.  We walked for a long time seeing nothing, but we came to a clearing where a pig was sitting.  We got in a circle and closed in on it.  Some boys tried to jump on it and it knocked Sam and me over. They hit the pig and slit its throat.  Sam and I carried it back to the camp.

When we arrived at the camp, Ralph was furious.  He said a boat had passed, but there was no smoke because we let the fire go out.  After a brief argument, Jack apologized.  We went back to the mountain and relit the fire and roasted the pig. It was the first time in over a week I had meat.

Post 3

We began working on the shelters today.  We got a little work done before we took a break.  We ate some fruit and swam for the rest of the day.  Ralph looked a little annoyed later that night.

Post 2

When the boys returned, Ralph called another assembly.  He said we were indeed on an island.  Ralph also made a rule about speaking in the assembly.  He said only the person holding the conch could speak.  Then a little boy with something pink on his face said he saw a beastie, but the boys laughed and told him it was a dream.

Ralph suggested we build a big fire so a passing boat could rescue us.  We raced to the top of the mountain and made a big pile of wood.  Then we lit it using Piggy’s glasses.  Jack put the choir in charge of keeping the fire going.  Later, Piggy started his fussing, but then he began to laugh.  He pointed at the side of the mountain, which was now in flames.  We watched the fire then went back to the beach.

Post 1

We have just finished our first assembly.  Sam and I were walking along the beach when we heard a loud sound like a trumpet.  We ran toward the sound and found other boys also searching for its source.  We eventually came upon a fat boy who we later learned was Piggy.  When the boy who was blowing the shell, which he called a conch, finally stopped, he came over to us.  Then a line of boys, led by one with red hair who said his name was Jack, came and joined us.  We decided to elect a chief, and we chose Ralph.  He put Jack in charge of the hunters, which are mainly the choir boys.   Ralph, Jack, and a boy named Simon went off to explore the island.  We found some fruit trees and ate from them.
