We have been rescued.
This morning, we set off on the hunt. Sam led Jack and Roger to the thicket where
Ralph was hiding. They laughed and
walked to the top of Tower Rock. They
found a huge boulder and pushed it over the edge of the cliff. It landed right in the middle of Ralph’s
hiding spot. We ran back down to the
edge of the thicket and crowded around it as tightly as we could. Suddenly, a spear shot out of the thicket, stabbed
Bill in the arm, and went back in. Not
concerned with Bill’s injury, Jack commanded us to walk back to the camp. He found a large stick, stuck it in the fire,
and carried it to where Ralph was hiding.
Laughing, he stuck the burning branch into thicket, lighting it on fire. A couple of minutes later, we heard a shout
from the other side of the thicket. We
ran over and found Johnny hunched over with a spear wound in his gut. Roger turned and glimpsed a boy running and
began chasing him. We spread out and
began chasing Ralph. We ran as hard as
we could for about ten minutes until we saw the beach ahead. We burst through the brush onto the white
sand and saw Ralph lying on the shore.
Above him was a man in a military outfit. Ralph stood up and began talking to him. More men came off the lifeboat that was
sitting on the shore and came to inspect us.
They put us on life boats and rowed us to their cruiser. We were finally saved.
